Caring for your candle - top tips

All of our scented candles are lovingly made to provide you with hours of fragrant bliss.
To keep them looking and working their best (and safest), follow our tips to enjoy a purer scent experience and maintain their high quality for longer.
  1. Trim wick before lighting
  2. Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, or fans, which can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel), or rapid, uneven burning.
  3. Keep your candle's wick to the specified length on the instruction label and before relighting
  4. Protect your surfaces
  5. Never leave a burning candle unattended
  6. Ensure you place your candles on a heat-protected surface before lighting.
  7. Allow wax to form a melt pool
  8. Safely extinguish
  9. Wax has a ‘memory’. If you only burn the candle for a short period of time on the first burn, you will create a small pool of wax. Subsequent burns will also burn to the same diameter thus creating a tunnel in the candle.

  10. Use the lid to out the candle - this eradicates the Black smoke and after smell (most of our candles come with lids)
  11. It is recommend that after the first burn, you only light your candle for a maximum of 4 hours at one time as longer periods can cause the wicks to drift and move if the melt pool becomes too deep.

  12. For safety, we recommend that you leave at least 10mm of wax at the bottom of your vessel prior to disposal. Burning the wicks below this level can be dangerous and cause the candle jar to overheat and possibly even crack.

Pillar Candles

1.As pillar candles feature a hard outer shell (which doesn't burn down) and soft wax core (which does), they should always be lit on a candle plate.

2.Keep them away from external sources of heat, as this can melt the hard outer shell of wax and cause dips for the inner core to spill out of.

3.Pillar candles are delicate and all the above candle care – including burn length, trimming of wicks and storage – should be followed.
